When I first thought of teaching in the UAE, I didn’t go through any recruitment agents or third party websites. My initial thought was to do a bit of research myself, googling what the top 10 British international schools in Dubai were at the time and applying to those directly.

The ones that struck out the most were Gems schools, probably one of the biggest and well-reputed international education companies out there. There are so many different kinds: Gems Wellington Academy, Gems Wellington International School, Gems FirstPoint School just to name a few. The best way to apply for a job with a Gems school is to go directly through their website or the chosen school’s website itself: https://careers.gemseducation.com

Some of the most highly rated Gems schools out in Dubai are:

– Gems Wellington Academy Al Khail

– Gems Wellington International School

– Jumeirah Primary School

– Dubai British School Emirates Hills

– Gems Royal Dubai School

Nevertheless, there are plenty more options that have built up a solid reputation and delivered some excellent results over the years. Some other excellent options to consider are:

– Dubai English Speaking School

– Repton Al Barsha

– Safa Community

– Kings School Al Barsha

– Jumeirah English Speaking School

Other avenues to apply for a teaching role in the UAE are through TES: https://www.tes.com/jobs/browse/united-arab-emirates

Or going through companies like Teach Away:

Always do extensive research into the school first, exploring the website in-depth and digging out any reviews to get a feel of the school. And of course, apply to as many schools as you can in order to increase your chances of getting a response. The quicker you apply the better, as general recruitment begins much sooner in the UAE than in the UK – the HR team have a mammoth task of getting you halfway across the world and sorting out your visa, accommodation, medical cover etc.

If you are thinking of applying, I wish you the best of luck and I hope this offers some guidance to get you started.
