Well it seems like it has been a long while since I blogged and any guesses why? That’s right, school restarted and what a whirlwind it has been! I can’t believe we are done with the first, and in my opinion, the worst term of the school year! Where have the past 15 weeks gone? Holiday blues, the pressure to prepare for a new class and plan a half term ahead has been a constant race against time! I always promise myself that I’d get so much done through the holidays and guess how much work I did over the summer? None! New year, new challenges and new changes – hard to keep on top of it all but somehow it always gets done!

This was the start of my third year at my current school as being a Class Teacher/Writing Lead, and my second year as the KS1 Phase Lead. On top of that, doing my NPQSL simultaneously has really stretched me but I’m still surviving to say the least! My family think I’m mad for taking so much on but I knew I had a goal to work towards and that’s exactly what I did. This being my 11th year into teaching, I knew I wasn’t back in the UK to prove myself as a teacher and wanted to push myself beyond that. By the grace of God, I have just landed a senior position as Assistant Headteacher at an ‘ outstanding’ local school and I am thrilled to say the least.

I have been truly blessed to be surrounded by such supportive, nurturing and kind leaders, who have really taken me under their wing and believed in my potential as an educator and leader. I am very excited to start the next chapter of my career and hope to continue building myself up God willingly.

If anyone would like some advice or support in taking the next leap in their teaching career as well then please reach out without hesitation – I’ve been there and done that and get real gratification out of helping others to achieve the same. If my personal journey can inspire others then I want to be part of your journey too!

Wishing everyone a happy and restful winter break – full of family time and good food! If you have any similar experiences that other educators can take inspiration and motivation from then please do share this in the comments section below.
